[caption id="attachment_1094" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band--Live! in Chicago"][/caption]

“One of the wonders of the world.” – James Brown

New York, NY: Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records is excited to announce that latest signing Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s LIVE! In Chicago will be available on 9/28/10.

Recorded in Chicago’s House of Blues during the critically acclaimed 10 Days Out: Blues From The Backroads tour, LIVE! in Chicago showcases Kenny and his band, Noah Hunt, Chris Layton, Scott Nelson and Riley Osbourn, along with special guests, Hubert Sumlin, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, Buddy Flett, Bryan Lee and Tommy Shannon (of Double Trouble). Though an illness nearly kept Kenny from performing that night, his heartfelt commitment to the music (and quite a lot of adrenaline) ensured that he took the stage, sharing with the audience one of the most spectacular performances of his career, and one that fans can now hear on LIVE! in Chicago.

A genuine guitar hero, Kenny has been playing since childhood, when he learned Muddy Waters licks by listening to his father’s record collection. By 16, Kenny had a deal with Giant Records, and recorded his first album while still in high school. Since then, Kenny has enjoyed two platinum and one gold albums, six Top 10 singles, and his album Trouble Is holds the distinction of being the longest running album on the Billboard Blues Charts, hitting the 2 year mark. Over the course of his storied career, Kenny has amassed four Grammy nominations, two Billboard Music Awards, two Orville H. Gibson Awards, the Blues Foundation’s “Keeping the Blues Alive” award and a Blues Music Award. In 2008, Fender released the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Signature Series Stratocaster. 2007’s CD/DVD 10 Days Out: Blues from the Backroads was nominated for two Grammy Awards, aired on PBS television nationwide and has been certified RIAA Gold as a Long Form Video.

HUBERT SUMLIN

A living legend, Hubert Sumlin is a hero to all of our guitar heroes. Growing up playing his guitar with harmonica great James Cotton, it was not long until, in 1949, at the young age of 18, he became Howlin’ Wolf’s lead guitarist, a position he held for the next twenty-five years, intercut only by a brief tenure in Muddy Waters’ band. Hubert has also played with Pinetop Perkins, Willie Dixon, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry and countless others.

WILLIE “BIG EYES” SMITH

As the longtime drummer for the incomparable Muddy Waters, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith has suffused his trademark “shuffle” style into the heart and soul of Chicago-style blues. At 17, he ventured to Chicago from Arkansas to see his first Muddy Waters performance. Instantly hooked, he stayed in Chicago, joining Muddy Waters in 1957. After his time with Waters, Willie found his niche in the Delta Blues sound, co-founding the Legendary Blues Band with Pinetop Perkins, Louis Meyers, Calvin Jones and Jerry Portnoy. The band went on to win six Grammy awards, record four critically acclaimed albums and have played with Buddy Guy, Howlin’ Wolf, Junior Wells, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton.

BRYAN LEE

Born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Bryan Lee had completely lost his eyesight by the age of eight. His early penchant for rock and blues was fostered through the 1950’s by listening late night to Nashville’s WLAC AM, where he first encountered the sounds of Elmore James, Albert King and Albert Collins. Bryan remembers not understanding the music, but knowing that’s what he wanted to play. By January 1982, he was headed south to New Orleans, landing a steady gig at the Old Absinthe House. Lee performed there for 14 years alongside his Jump Street Five, becoming a treasure of the city’s French Quarter, a claim he cherishes to this day.

BUDDY FLETT

Currently residing In Shreveport, LA, Buddy Flett began his career in 1975 at the legendary Lake Cliff Roadhouse and the infamous Bossier Strip, where Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, Sr. and Hank Williams, Jr. all performed. He has written for John Mayall, Percy Sledge, and was featured in the new documentary, Robert Mugge’s Rhythms n’ Bayous. Flett’s band, the Bluebirds, backed Kenny on his first public performance when Kenny was only thirteen.

Robin Rogers Seriously Ill-Benefits Planned, Donations Sought

Blind Pig recording artist Robin Rogers, who was admitted to the hospital on August 18th with serious liver problems, has now been diagnosed with liver cancer. She was hospitalized for complications caused by Hepatitis C, and a CT scan prior to surgery revealed an untreatable cancerous tumor on her liver. She is not a candidate for a liver transplant so she has been sent home for hospice care.

There has been a major outpouring of support and care since the announcement of the hospitalization by her husband Tony on Robin's Facebook page. Announcements were made of the establishment of a Robin Rogers Medical Trust Fund to cover medical expenses.

However, while this fund will help with astronomical hospital and medical bills, it does not cover other expenses such as hospice care and and basic living expenses. Robin will not be able to return to the stage, and Tony, her musical partner, will be out of work for the foreseeable future. Like most musicians, Robin and Tony do not have health insurance and depend on touring income for their livelihood. Expenses for hospice care, medicine, and everyday living will be extremely high.

Fans who are interested in providing help directly to the family can donate by sending a check (made out to Tony Rogers) to: Robin Rogers c/o Piedmont Talent Agency, P.O. Box 680006, Charlotte, NC 28216.

In addition, the Charlotte Blues Society has set up a PayPal account, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting Robin. PayPal donations can be made on the following webpage: PayPal.

Fans can also help by purchasing CDs from her website: www.robinrogers.com. Benefits and fundraising efforts are also being organized, and fans can follow developments on a newly created Facebook page: Robin Rogers Benefit Central.

A benefit and silent auction being organized by producer Jim Brock and friend Scott Cable will be held at the Double Door Inn in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 24th. The day long event will feature performances by Jim Brock, Bob Margolin, the Voodoo Brothers, WSNB, and special guest Sheila Carlisle. Tickets are only $20. For further information on starting times or to donate items for the auction, please see the Facebook Benefit page referenced above. An earlier benefit will also be held at the Double Door, on September 26th, featuring the Cary Sims Trio, Part-Time Blues Band, House on Fire & Monday Night All -Stars.

Rogers is an accomplished singer and talented harmonica player who has emerged over the past few years as a major player in the blues world. Following the release of her national debut CD, Treat Me Right, she won the 2009 Blues Blast Award for "Best Female Artist." Her new CD, Back In The Fire, will be released on September 14th.

Top Blues Artists Headline at Newark Blues Festival, September 12

More than 25 national and local blues artists, including four of the UK's top blues bands, will play at venues across Newark, between Friday 10 and Sunday 12 September.

Four of the UK’s top blues bands complete the line up for the second annual Newark Blues Festival.

Leading UK blues artists Aynsley Lister, Sean Webster, Tipping Point and Virgil and the Accelerators will perform at the festival’s showcase event, Blues at the Castle, in the atmospheric and majestic setting of Newark Castle on Saturday 11 September.

More than 25 national and local blues artists, featuring four of the UK's leading blues bands, will play at venues across Newark, between Friday 10 and Sunday 12 September.

Last year, hundreds of music lovers descended on the town for the event, which has been shortlisted for the Best British Blues Festival category at the 2010 British Blues Awards.

This year, organizers have again partnered with event production company, Liz Hobbs Group Ltd and plan to make this year’s event an even bigger hit.

The Newark Blues Festival is the creation of family trio Joe Pointing aged 17, father Darren Pointing and grandfather Darrell Pointing and is run with the help of local musicians and music enthusiasts on a not for profit basis.

Darren Pointing said: “We’re really excited about the line up and extra events that we’ve included this year. Virgil and the Accelerators are creating a real buzz at the moment and Aynsley Lister is the only British artist to be featured in Classic Rock Magazine’s top ten contemporary blues artists, alongside the likes of The White Stripes and John Mayer.

“We’ve got some great feature events in the castle grounds and there’ll be loads of free gigs and workshops happening around the town over the weekend. Add that to the fact that Blues at the Castle has been chosen to host the first ever presentation of the British Blues Awards and you can see why we’re all so excited.

“Two leading female UK blues artists, Chantel McGregor and Delta Maid, will headline a free event showcasing female artists on Saturday afternoon and there will be blues workshops for young musicians and vocalists who’ll also get the chance to perform on the main stage.”

CEO of Liz Hobbs Group, Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE said: “We create and promote events and concerts at venues all over the UK, but as our head office is in Newark, we’re delighted to support the Newark Blues Festival, which I’m sure will soon be firmly established on the festival map.”

Exotic Erotic Ball & Sonicbids Team-Up To Offer 2 Prime Gigs To Indie Bands

Exotic Erotic Ball & Sonicbids Team-Up to Offer 2 Prime Gigs to Indie Bands World’s Largest, Longest-Running Adult Party Partners With Sonicbids for Fourth Time

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The 31st annual Exotic Erotic Ball and Expo, the internationally acclaimed Celebration of Flesh, Fetish, and Fantasy, which has been called “The World’s #1 Wildest and Sexiest Party” by E! Entertainment TV, the “#1 Adult Festival in the World,” by AskMen.com, and one of the “69 Sexiest Things to Do Before You Die,” by Playboy TV, has again evidenced its longstanding commitment to promoting independent music. It is offering two prime-time, full-paying gigs exclusively to Indie artists.

To be considered for the gigs, bands must apply by submitting their EPK (Electronic Press Kit) through Sonicbids at http://bit.ly/dvptKj on or before September 20, 2010. All entries will be juried, rated and two winners will be chosen to play before thousands of masked, costumed, and otherwise elaborately attired fans at the 2010 Exotic Erotic Ball and Expo, October 22 & 23, 2010*, at the San Francisco Bay Area’s newest and most spectacular waterside venue: The Craneway Pavilion. Winners will be notified on September 30, 2010.

The 2010 show marks the Ball’s fourth collaboration with Sonicbids. Previous Indie bands who won gigs at the Ball were 2009 winners CR GRUVE from Portland, Maine, and SUPER GEEK LEAGUE from Seattle – the latter of which were so popular, producers are bringing them back for 2010. 2008 winners were THE BURNING OF ROME from San Diego, MUD from San Francisco and CARNIVAL OF SIN, from British Columbia, Canada; 2007 winners were BLACK BETTY AND THE BAD HABITS from Boston; and the Los Angeles-based DOXY and LADY FOX. Sonicbids winners performed on the same bill with legendary artists including Snoop Dogg, Peaches, Donald Glaude, the Spyderz, Tone Loc, The Impotent Sea Snakes, and others. BLACK BETTY’S lead vocalist, Jenny Langer, called the experience, “A true highlight for us that we’ll always remember. That’s one fun and crazy crowd!”

“The Ball is very visible,” adds Mann. “And many bands with sexy lead singers and provocative lyrics feel they fit the show. Many of them do. The problem for us is we receive hundreds of DVD's, CD's, emails, and links. We don’t have the time or manpower to sift through them. But, I am a songwriter myself, and I have a real commitment to Indie music. Our relationship with Sonicbids allows us to manage this function and show that commitment. Every submission gets heard, and it all comes to us online. I look forward to shaking hands with the 2010 winners on stage at the Ball.”

“The Ball” is widely considered the world’s #1 adult-themed party event with live headline entertainment on five stages – music, electronic, burlesque, circus, and fetish. Over its 30-year history, headline entertainment has included Joan Jett, Chris Isaak, Grace Jones, Greg Allman, George Clinton, Thomas Dolby, Everclear, plus untold numbers of celebrity guests, pop culture icons, and the world’s top burlesque, fetish, and novelty acts.

Roots-Rocker Natasha James in Concert@Iron Door Saloon, September 17/18

Performing In Concert! Two Big Nights! At IRON DOOR SALOON/Sept. 17, 18

"Natasha James can certainly kick up the dust with a jukebox-worthy saloon song about drinking or life on the edge. She can also paint a poignant lyrical portrait of life in America, complete with all its blemishes. However, she is at her finest when she is doing a little bit of both while adding a touch of the blues." American Songwriters Magazine

2010 Los Angeles Music Awards' Multiple Nominee ("Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year," "Country Artist of the Year") Featured on American Veterans Radio; Indie Mad MP3 Radio, More

The song is "a twangy hip shaker guaranteed to grab you by your feet and throw you in a dancing mood."

Locally, Natasha James and Band perform for two big back-to-back nights at the historic Iron Door Saloon, 18761 Main St., Groveland, Friday and Saturday, September 17 and 18. 9:00 p.m.- 11:30 p.m. each night. No Cover. Info: (209) 962-6244 or log onto www.iron-door-saloon.com.

In addition to being made into a feature-length documentary film, the project includes live web cam updates, a touring exhibit, interactive websites, and social/networking sites. "On the sophomore album from this remarkably-talented Sonoma County singer-songwriter, James is versatile enough to be comfortable in acoustic Americana styles, minor key blues, story songs, straight-ahead rockers, and, surprisingly enough, even Latin jazz...this is a mature singer-songwriter at the peak of her powers who reminds me of Bonnie Raitt and Susan Tedeschi, but has a style all her own." MARIN INDEPENDENT JOURNAL

The Sonoma County-based musician is nominated in two categories for the 2010 (20th Annual) Los Angeles Music Awards - "Female Singer/Songwriter of the Year" and "Country Artist of the Year."
